5 Feb 2010Hi everyone. Galaxy Legion went live (beta) this evening. More fun news and stuff to come. :)
11 Feb 2010Changes made in 02/10/10 update:

- Ship information that other player's view will only show modules that are installed. Modules in cargo (uninstalled) will be hidden.
- Artifact rarity ranges have been adjusted. Most common/uncommon costs have stayed the same, but 'some' rare artifacts will cost more points to get (2200-4000 and beyond)
- A "View Ship Stats" button has been added to your ship tab. This will allow you to view your stats easier.

- Valentines Day is coming! An uncommon artifact has been added that you have a chance to get. There will also be a chance to claim it from the daily reward. Its only available for a limited time, so Good Luck!!
12 Feb 2010Changes made in 02/11/09 update:

- There is now a research production output message and timer in the Research tab for convenience
- Ship module tooltips have moved from the image to the module name
- Ship module tooltips now have their ship limit mentioned.
13 Feb 2010Changes made in 02/12/10 Update:

New Features:
- artifacts can now be 'scrapped' for a random amount of credits. Rarer artifacts will give more credits.
- Disabling a ship now gives Bonus experience if the ship you disabled is higher level than you. The higher the level difference, the greater the bonus!

Changes:
- Battle summaries now show remaining shield and hull amounts for your ship (since the stat window is usually behind it)
- Ship details will now show the correct number (x2, x3, etc) of modules active on the ship
- Hacking energy cost has been reduced to 5 (down from 10)
- Hacking steals far more research than before, and critical hack chance has been increased.
- In order to encourage more stockpiling of materials, the Trade Tariff has been increased to 20% (up from 10%)
13 Feb 2010Changes in 02/13/10 update:

New Features:
- Energy Relays and Conduits have been redesigned. They will now increase your energy recharge rate instead of your maximum energy. However, they reduce the maximum energy available on your ship. Use them strategically.

Updates:
- Big Energy Change - Energy now completely fills to full when you gain a rank. Note that you are free to install additional energy modules before your rank to take advantage of this.
15 Feb 2010Changes in 02/14/10 update:

- Research Tree will now have preview into what modules and structures will be unlocked in that tier

- The cost for the artifact 'Radiant Weapon Locker' has been increased, and it is no longer tradable
- To reduce the potential for multi-account abuse, the artifact 'Energy Cube' is no longer tradable

- Scaling repair costs have been lowered by a factor of 5.
17 Feb 2010Some recent changes in 02/17/10 update:

Changes:
- Leaderboard will now only allow you to target players in the 'Battles Won' tab
- Research rank limit has been increased 50%
- Planet production tooltips will show bonuses even when structures are not built
18 Feb 201002/17/10 updates (continued):

New Features:
- The legion invite feature has been added (this replaces the older 'Expand Your Legion' wall posting button)

Changes:
- Planet share timer (and expiration) changed from 24 hours to 12 hours.
- The legion share popup in the trade area now sorts by highest rank first
- The completion level in the missions list will now show the required max levels
- Many exotic planets have been given new special names
- When hacking, there is now a random variance of the points you will get, centered on the ship's rank.
20 Feb 2010Changes made in 02/19/10 update:

- Chance to get rarer minerals has increased. The higher your rank, the greater the chance you will get rarer minerals, and the less of a chance you will get "cheaper" ones. Expect some of these ratios to change slightly as this is being balanced.

- Ship upkeep now applies to all modules, regardless of whether they are installed or not.
21 Feb 2010Changes made in 02/21/10 update:

- Raiding/Hacking: If you succeed in a hack or raid, the time before you can do another has increased by 20 minutes. If you fail, the timer will only be 5 minutes.
- Raid: chance to steal an enemy artifact (critical success) has been increased
- Most weapon modules now have a ship limit of 8

- Longevity serum now increases planet population by 50% (up from 10%), but is no longer permanent.
- Alien data disc is no longer tradable
24 Mar 2010Changes / Additions - 3/23/10

* New ship graphics have been added for Vygoid and Human races.
* Exotic Matter takes up 10x less space in your cargo. You will be able to collect much more. :)

Artifact Changes:
* Artifacts that permanently increase stats of a ship or planet can no longer be shared, and many have higher costs than before
* Most artifacts that increase or decrease stats by percentage have had their total % effect lowered significantly, but will last longer.
* The artifact 'Planet Flux' has been increased in rarity.
17 Apr 2010New Feature - Artifact Market

For players too impatient to get that special artifact they keep trying for, most can now be purchased for Galaxy Points. During holidays and special events, 'Featured' artifacts will also be available.

The Market is also a good place to see a partial list of artifacts and their associated rarity.

A 'Buy Artifacts' button is available in the Trade tab, as well as the Galaxy Points redemption area.
19 Apr 2010Look out for traps! A new artifact type, 'traps', are starting to appear in many types. Ships that attack you will begin to think twice about doing it again...

Traps can only be seen by you and your legion (for now). When attacked, one trap will be triggered at random. You will be immediately notified when one goes off, even if the attacker leaves you alone right after.

Some traps do nasty damage, some inflict mean effects on the attacker. Others give you a much needed boost in response to the attack.

These are being released slowly in the next couple days. Look for them as you redeem your artifacts!
24 Apr 2010Traps are now showing up for planets too! As with the ship traps, you will be alerted when a trap goes off, potentially giving you valuable time to respond if you are online, or preventing the attacker from success.
27 Apr 2010To make it *much* easier on new players, some new starting modules have been added and augmented within the research tree.2 Scanners have been added. Players will start the game with the ability to build a smaller (but inferior) scanner and will unlock another one at the first 'Advanced Sensors' tier.

2 Jammers have been added that follow the same as above for the 'Stealth Systems' tier.

2 Defensive modules have been added that follow the same as above for the 'Defensive Systems' tier.

This should provide a lot more flexibility to players at the start of the game and smooth out the first few levels as players begin to build their research capabillities.
28 Apr 2010We will be testing some changes to how invasions work in the coming days. The following are current changes that have been implemented:

- There was a bug where the invasion timer was not getting set upon failure or critical failure. This has been fixed. It was never supposed to allow spam clicking until the ship finally rolled success!

- Players BELOW Rank 20 are under invasion protection. This goes both ways. Pre-20 Rank players cannot attack or invade planets. Players cannot attack or invade planets owned by players Rank 19 and lower. The intent here is to provide a window in which new players can build their empire a bit before having the technology to properly defend it. It will also help eliminate some of the frustration higher level players have in losing planets to extremely low ranks.

- We understand that because of this change, some players might fall into a situation where a planet that was taken from them recently is now under this protection.

- The planetary status tooltip that indicates the owner of the planet now also includes the Rank of the player.

- Some new UI elements are being added to make this "starting protection" more obvious, such as mention in the tutorial, special icons, and messaging.

- Although not yet implemented, it is understood that there is a possibility for a lower level to "idle" on a decent planet, especially if that player is no longer an active player of the game. We will be working on a threshold where attacking/invading would be allowed in this case, but have not yet decided on how long this idling would have to be.
1 May 2010Hey everyone, here are some additional changes made as part of today's update:

- Planetary guards can no longer be directly targeted unless the planet population is reduced low enough to perform an invasion.
- The artifact 'Unstable Wormhole Emitter' now only warps away 1 guard (down from 3). You can still use more than 1 on the same planet, however.
3 Apr 2010Hull repairs have changed! Instead of paying for the total amount of hull you are repairing, you will instead pay for the % (1-100) of damage your hull has taken, regardless of how powerful your hull is. This should encourage players to stack hull modules more, as it will not impact how much your repair costs will be.

A new planet filter has been added to the planet list. This filter will show only recently scanned planets (last 24 hours). This should make it easier to refer to newly scanned planets when your list becomes large.
5 Apr 2010The max minerals your planets can carry has been increased significantly.
The max artifact points your planets can carry has been doubled.

A new class of artifact has been added: chassis. These relatively rare artifacts can be deployed on your planets as special structures! They each provide multiple bonuses, so they should placed where each would benefit most.

Without giving away too much, here are some examples:

Space Elevator
Phase Cutter
Processing Core
10 Apr 2010New Feature: Artifact Gifting!

Its finally here! Players can now "share" certain types of artifacts with their friends. In the trade tab, there is now 2 distinct options:

Send (renamed from 'Give'): This works the same as before. This will directly trade ownership of the artifact with someone in your legion.

Share [NEW]: This creates a free copy of the artifact and posts it to your wall. The first person who claims the artifact keeps it!

Some additional details:

* You can only share 1 artifact per day. However, you can claim as many as you can get your hands on...
* You cannot share the same artifact more than once. You can continue to share new artifacts as you get them.

Have fun! And please let us know your initial thoughts and feedback.
18 Apr 2010After some review, the cost / scale of Attack and Defensive structures needed some help.

The credit cost has stayed the same, but the size of these structures has been significantly reduced, especially at the higher tiers. In addition, new chassis artifacts will be added that provide these bonuses very soon.

Please defend your planets - I beg you. :)
23 Apr 20102 New Trade Options have been made available:

* A 'Sell All' button is now available (when applicable) in the minerals tab. This will sell ALL of your minerals in one click, and report the result of the sale in the summary

* A ' Stack Similar' button is now available (when applicable) in the artifact tab. This will combine artifacts of the same name. For instance, if you had 2 Defense Probes, you will instead have a single Defense Probe with 2 uses.

In order to support the stack update, the following changes were necessary:

- Stack size now has an impact on artifact space usage.
- Scrapping artifacts now takes into account stack size.
- Sharing artifacts as gifts does not duplicate the stacks. It will always result in the 'original' stack amount of the artifact for the person receiving the gift. Directly sending the artifact will still work as expected.

Some important strategic notes on stacking:

- A raider with a critical success that steals a stacked artifact will be very happy...
- Stacking is an efficient way to send "multiples" to a single Legion member without having to wait for the trade timer
24 Apr 2010Legion bonus for planetary attack, defense, and cloak now caps at 100% (100+ legion members).
2 May 2010Planet Alert Sharing now has a new optional feature: messaging. You can choose from a list of pre-defined messages to send to your legion when the planet is shared with them. This will help communicate your intent for sharing.
2 May 2010Some changes have been made to attack cost and bonuses today:

- Energy cost for a single attack is now 5.
- Attacking will now always award XP. The amount awarded will vary from 5 - 25+ XP depending on the circumstances (see below).

Each attack will always give between 5 - 15 XP randomly.
If you do MORE damage (winner), you will get another 5 - 10 XP randomly as a bonus.
If you disable a higher-rank ship, you will get a bonus of (up to) 20 XP, plus 1XP for every 2 ranks the ship is above you.

Note that these figures may change as adjustments and balancing is looked at.
9 May 2010A player "Comm" has been added to the ship info area. This is similar to a wall posting area where players may post messages.

Here are some other details about the Comm:
- Posting a comm message costs energy
- messages on the comm wall are public
- A player may delete any messages on their own comm wall
- Comm messages also appear in your ships log and will appear as an alert if you are online

This feature will continue to be enhanced in the coming weeks.
15 May 2010Planet colony protection status will now expire after Rank 20 *or* 2 weeks after the character is created, whichever comes first.

A Colony protection status will now appear in the planets list for players who are still under protection. The status bar will show the remaining time of the protection and mention that it will also expire at Rank 20.

Enemy players will not be aware of how much time is left for planets under protection, only that the player is still under Rank 20.
19 May 2010You will now be immediately notified if one of your planets is under attack. This alert will appear no more frequently than once per hour per planet.

This specific alert will not indicate the player(s) who are attacking the planet. Traps will continue to provide that information pre-invasion.
19 May 2010A new planetary enemy occupation status has been added, called "Legion Ally Occupied".

This status will appear *instead* of "Enemy Occupied" for all enemy planets where at least one of your legion members is in common with the enemy. A number next to the status will indicate how many legion members are in common.

Players may choose to attack and invade the planet as normal - this new status is simply to inform the player that they are attacking a planet that is a "friend of a friends".
20 May 2010A new artifact has been added called "Star Chart Purger". This artifact will remove one of your "garbage" planets from your scan list. By doing so, it increases your scan % accordingly.

For instance, if your scan dropped 5% after finding a new planet, using the purger would raise it back 5%. Its especially effective during scan blitzes where you are hitting a bad luck streak.

Purgers currently cost 1000 artifact points for those claiming them randomly, or 8GPs from the artifact market.

This change is intended to help old and new players with the "scan block" syndrome, where they reach a situation of diminishing returns.
25 May 2010In order to help optimize the battle list, a few changes have been made:

* The battle list will no longer find ships that are disabled.
* The list will not randomize as often.
30 May 2010The extremely long and exciting mission chain for "The Prejor" has now been archived.

To start this chain, you must complete "The Prejor" mission that begins at Rank 40 with "Mysterious World".

For players who have completed portions of the chain already, you will be able to complete the remaining parts.

If you encounter issues, let us know :)
31 May 2010A new hack trap artifact is now available called "Quantum Firewall Trap". It will trigger if you are successfully hacked, and prevent the hacker from cloaking for 8 hours (and thus, prevent any further hacking as well).

Note that the trap does not prevent your ship from being hacked nor does it alter the existing chances of being hacked.
19 Jun 2010Hi Players,

As you probably know, the game is experiencing extreme lag today. Looks like our servers are simply very swamped at the moment, more than we expected for our scale planning. I've submitted requests with our admins to see if there is a temporary way to resolve it - but the larger effort will be expanding our servers as soon as possible.

We appreciate your patience as we escalate this - we're working diligently to bring things back to normal.
4 Jun 2010The planet list now has a new column called "Best Resource". This is a quick indicator for the resource of the highest availability on the planet. When this column is sorted, it will quickly give an idea for the "best" planets that you have scanned for. To make room, this column replaced the older 'colony' column that was not very useful.

Note: If you still had the game open before this change went into effect, You may need to refresh the game to see the new planet list data properly.
8 Jun 2010New players will now be able to choose a character name when starting. Members of your legion will still
be able to see your 'real' name in addition to your character name. All other players will only see your alias.

The option to change your existing alias will be added at a later time. For existing players who would like an alias, you may use the 'Contact' link at the bottom of the game to request one.
Note: currently there is a reported issue with Facebook regarding the 'Contact' option - it may not be available for a few days.
-----------

An account reset option has been added. This is available in the 'Help' area under a new tab called 'Account Reset'.

-----------

- The chance for a critical raid failure has been lowered significantly.
- The ships log now only holds data from the last 2 days.
14 Jun 2010A new planet type has been added called "Metallic". Metallics are rare planets that provide a good
balance of both mining and research, and are typically larger than other planets.

A confirmation prompt will now appear when selling any module that is not replaceable.
16 Jun 2010Traps no longer automatically trigger when attacking an enemy ship. Instead, the likelihood of a trap triggering will increase the more that the defending ship is damaged. Some traps *will* still trigger on first strike, such as the planetary alarm sentry. Please see the trap descriptions again for information on which ones have changed.

Combat reputations have been adjusted, making it harder to attain the status of 'Deadly' and higher reputations. In addition, a new top reputation of 'Insane' has been added for a 320+ kill differential.
17 Jun 2010Terraforming devices can no longer be used on planets of 15x Mega Rich resources or higher.

Some new artifacts have been added to the game that can be used only on specific planet types. Keep a look out for them...
22 Jun 2010The credits from the daily reward will now scale better with Rank.

The chance to win an Energy Cube in the daily reward has been increased.
23 Jun 2010Selling individual minerals no longer requires you to enter in a number amount. Simply pressing [Sell] will automatically sell all of that mineral. You can still specify a specific number amount if you prefer.
29 Jun 2010The Zolazin Analyzer structure now produces 1 artifact AND 1 research production. Previously it only provided only 1 artifact production.
2 Jul 2010The Planet 'invade' option has been moved to the 'Actions' tab when viewing a planet. This was done to prevent accidental invasions, and to also
allow more information (such as the timer and tooltips) to appear in a concise place.

-----

Combat damage calculations have been adjusted. Prior to this change, there was a scaling damage cap to prevent ships from being 1-shotted.
However, this algorithm was a bit flawed and caused scaling hull and shield values to inflict more incoming damage when there was not enough defense.
The damage cap has now shifted to scale based on the size of the ship instead. Thus, larger ships have a higher damage ceiling than smaller ships.
As a result of this change, you will notice a few things:

* Shield and Hull are much more powerful (and needed) than before, especially as your ship gets larger.
* Typical damage thresholds you may have been used to seeing will be different

-----

Non-Player enemy ships will now start to appear in the 'Battle' area. These ships, starbases, and space monsters are waiting for you
to challenge them. Combat with NPCs is similar to player-vs-player, but there are some notable differences:

* Each player starts with 2 NPC 'slots' in the Battle area. You must disable the ships in your slots to be eligible for another random NPC.
* Some NPCs award additional things automatically when they are disabled. Look for a 'Disable Reward' tooltip when you finish one off, though not all NPCs have rewards.
* As with enemy player ships, some NPCs are cloaked.
* Some new missions may require you to kill a certain number of an enemy ship type.
* NPCs award decent XP regardless of whether you deal more damage.
* Enemy artifacts cannot be used on NPCs... yet...

Because enemies and enemy players coexist, some of the ship stats have changed:
* Kills is now called Player Kills
* Battles is now a combination of player and non-player battles.
* Non-Player kills stat has been added
* Combat reputation will stay the same - only your Player Kills and Deaths will be considered.

The NPCs in this first release are intended for single-player encounters only. Future releases will roll out multiplayer encounters,
shared rewards, and bosses.

Also, many more NPCs, rewards, and balancing will be done in the coming weeks, so don't worry if the drops seem sparse at the moment.
6 Jul 2010A tooltip has been added to your Rank in the upper status area. When mousing over your rank, it will indicate how much experience remains until
your next one.

Some artifacts can now be used on enemy NPCs. Many that are unnecessary (probes, etc) have been filtered out as possible choices.
Be on the lookout for upcoming special powerful artifacts that can ONLY be used on enemy NPCs...
10 Jul 2010Most common NPCs (with the exception of mission NPCs) will now expire from your battle list if they are not killed within a certain time period after they appear (8+ hours). When this happens, they will be replaced with a new one at random.

If you are a casual battler, this will give you more opportunities to find rarer spawns without having to be forced to plow through many ships, albeit at a slower pace. It will also make having more slots (when they become available) more rewarding.
11 Jul 2010Enemy alerts can now only be sent against players who have disabled, hacked, raided, invaded, or used an artifact on you (or your planet) in the last 24 hours. Prior to this, players could 'recycle' alerts on the same player in their legion by sending it back and forth.

Note that spy probes and triggered traps do not count as offensive actions for the above.
16 Jul 2010Based on feedback, planetary cloak has been updated to provide more 'protection' for planets against players of varying scan levels.
Prior to this change, if the ship had a higher scan rating than the planet's cloak, its chances of being found were the same as other planets.

While it is still not possible for ships to find planets that have cloaking higher than their scan rating, there is now an additional roll that is
done to determine whether a ship will be successful in scanning a planet that has some cloaking at all.

This means that all planets with cloaking have a chance to 'block' a scan against any other ship. This chance will eventually approach 0% as the planet's cloak is closer to the ship's scan, where after that it cannot be detected by that ship at all.
24 Jul 2010Multi-player NPC enemies now have an enhanced 'Combat Log':

* The Combat Log will show a list of all players who have damaged the NPC, their total damage, and total % of enemy damage. This list is sorted by highest damage first.

* Players who have done enough damage to guarantee a reward will now see a 'lock' icon next to their name.

Standard enemies will still show the existing combat log (list of all single attacks).
28 Jul 2010Shields now recharge at a rate of 2% of your total shield capacity (or 1, if greater) per 'tick', instead of just 1 per tick.
This makes shields a great option even for higher Rank players.

Mousing over the Energy or Shield name on your stat bar will show the 'points per hour' charge rate.

In order to remove confusion over research point spending, the 'Points Remaining' number has been replaced with
a progress bar when selecting a research option. The tutorial text also includes a slight adjustment to underscore
that points can be spent at any time.

An offer-for-points option is now available in the Galaxy Points redemption area as an alternative way to receive Galaxy Points.
Your points will typically arrive a few minutes after completing an offer.
4 Aug 2010There are some significant balance changes being made today. Please be patient as these changes are tested across our player base and feedback is received, as they may undergo revisions.

There are now limits to how many times a single ship can be hacked, raided, or disabled in a 24 hour window. When that player performs one of those actions against someone else, this limit will increase. Once a ship is hacked/raided/disabled too many times within a 24 hour window, that action cannot be performed again.

The [current] limits for various actions in a 24 hour window is as follows:

Hacks: 5 (+1 for each time this ship has performed an offensive action against another player in 24hrs)
Raids: 5 (+1 for each time this ship has performed an offensive action against another player in 24hrs)
Disables: 3 (+1 for each time this ship has performed an offensive action against another player in 24hrs)

The disable limit is waived if you target a ship that is guarding a planet that is ready to be invaded.
In addition, players with truce effects can be attacked IF they are targeted in this specific situation as well.
The base limits mentioned above are subject to change.

Due to limits being added to hacking, the quantum firewall effect trap duration has been reduced to 2 hours, down from 8.
Due to limits being disabled, the halcyon trap effect duration has been reduced to 1 hour, down from 4.

Enemy player alerts will now ONLY send to members of your legion within the rank range of the target. This rank range is +/- 40% of the rank of the player being alerted, rounded up 5 ranks. So, if you alert a player that is rank 100, members that are rank 60 - 145 will be able to respond to the alert.

The help tooltips for alerts have been enhanced to indicate the rank ranges of the eligible players. This is true for NPC elites/bosses as well.

The max cap on hull repair cost has been raised to 200M credits, up from 1M.
The repair cost remains the same at (up to) 15% of your daily upkeep.

Racial Bonuses and professions have been given adjustments:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Aerlen now recieve a 30% defense bonus (up from 20%) - this is to balance the extra benefit Konqul receive to invasions.

Physicist bonus to shields increased to 30% (up from 10%)
Hacker/Raider bonuses increased to 30% (up from 20%)
Fixer bonus to hull increased to 30% (up from 20%)
Biologist bonus to max pop increased to 30% (up from 10%)
Explorer bonus to scanning increased to 20% (up from 10%)
Merchant bonus to cargo space increased to 30% (up from 20%)
12 Aug 2010Elite and Boss-level NPCs can now be alerted at any time, and will not share an alert timer with your player and planet alerts. Happy hunting!

Battle experience labels have been clarified and extended for a wider range of players.
The label will also now appear when viewing a player's stats.

Less than 25: Beginner
25 - 99: Novice
100 - 399: Experienced
400 - 699: Adept
700 - 1999: Seasoned
2000 - 3999: Veteran
4000 - 7999: Champion
8000 - 15999: Master
16000 - 31999: Grand Master
32000 - 63999: Legend
64000 - 127999: Grand Legend
128k +: Epic Legend

Hack and Raid success timers have been reduced to 15 minutes (down from 25)

All special materials (including exotic matter) no longer take up space in cargo.

The research item detail now displays remaining points, in addition to the new progress bar.

Terraforming Device and Planet Flux will appear much less frequently in artifact shipments, but will start to appear from a greater variety of NPCs.
23 Aug 2010Hi Players!

Just an update that we are hard at work creating the new GL Alliance system, which should be ready within the next couple weeks. :)

https://galaxylegion1-1faae.kxcdn.com/images/screenshots/legionsetup.jpg
24 Aug 2010Per feedback, Rank restrictions on alerts have been removed.
3 Sep 2010What happened to my legion/friends?
A NEW legion system is now available that allows players to establish their own organized alliance and
invite specific players into it. Leaders can name their legion and have full control over its management
and structure. A legion can have up to 50 players in its roster.

Why the change?
The previous system required that new players invite a large number of facebook (sometimes random) friends in order to
best take advantage of the bonuses legions had to offer. Organized legions have also been requested for quite a long time, as a way to
make it easier for a larger number of players to work together, rather than a disorganized network
of networks. The new system also allows for many exciting new features to be added that were not possible
with the prior system.

What will happen to my existing group of friends?
A: Your facebook friends will be viewable in a new area called 'View Friends'. This will allow you
to track where your friends are and what legions they are in. You can also invite your friends
into your own legion if they have not already joined one. Galaxy Legion will also inform you when
you come across a friends' ship or planet in your travels, and you may attack them if you wish :)

What are the benefits of the new legion structure?
Legions offer many of the benefits of the prior system, and more:

* Legion members can share locations of planets and elite/boss enemy ships
* Legion members can alert for help against enemy players
* You can send artifacts and minerals to your legion and/or your friends
* Legion members can repair each others ships and help construct structures on planets
* players recieve a 2% bonus to planetary attack, defense, and cloak for each active legion member
* Legion members can communicate using a private comm system
* Legion leaders and officers can manage invitations and roster for their group

Can I still gift and send items to my friends?
Yes, posting an extra artifact gift on your facebook profile will still allow your friends to gather them.
You can also still send artifacts and minerals to your friends OR your legion members - its your choice.

Are there any other benefits to my large group of Galaxy Legion friends?
Having a large group of friends is a great place to start when forming a new legion or recruiting
into an existing one. There may be additional benefits added in the future!

Legion Structure
How are legions organized?
Legions have the following roles:
* Leader. The leader can change any information for the legion, invite members into the legion, promote/demote members, kick members, and disband the entire legion.
* Officer. An officer is allowed to invite other members into the legion, kick standard members, and post in the officers comm area.
* Member. A standard member has no special legion privileges other than to communicate in the standard comm area.

How do I add other members to my legion?
Members can request to be added by:

* Finding your legion from the legion search area or player link and requesting to join
* Clicking on a legion invite link

Leaders and Officers can accept as many invitations as they wish, up to the maximum legion size.

You can also directly invite friends that you wish to have join your legion. They will be notified
and have the option to accept the invite.

Can multiple legions ally together?
Currently, there are no diplomacy options between legions. Each is independent and an enemy of all others....
4 Sep 2010The mission chain for The Glaviz and Zolazin is now archived, and begins at rank 5, so it should be available to just about everyone!

As with the last Prejor mission chain, you must complete the chain in a certain order (the same order as was given during the live setting):

The Glaviz Incident
The Zolazin Pursuit
The Zolazin Battle
The Glaviz Vendetta
Vornexa's Taunt
Spoils of War

There will be something special about the end of this chain that players will see very soon in an upcoming new mission being added. If you think you know how this mission ended, you may be in for a surprise.

18 Sep 2010The 'Builder' profession is now available as an option when choosing the Drannik Race (for eligible players).

The Research tree will now display a red warning when you have reached your rank capacity.
19 Sep 2010Adjustments have been made to rank 200+ mineral shipments to account for increased costs of equipment and upkeep. In addition, a new mineral, Aidonium, has a chance to appear in shipments for players of higher ranks. Aidonium is worth roughly 10x the price of Kurenite, but uses up significantly more space in cargo. Note: Aidonium will only appear available in the trade area when first receiving a shipment of it. When additional research tiers are added, most of those modules will also require Aidonium.

Players now have the ability to use special structures ('Warehouses') on planets that increase the total mineral, artifact and/or research production capacity. These are considered premium structures, and will typically only be available from special missions, Galaxy Points, and rare encounters. Warehouses will take up a large amount of space on planets, so players should construct them only if necessary.

The currently available warehouse structures are available on the artifact market:

Mineral Storage Tower
Increases your total planetary mineral production capacity by 1000 units.

Artifact Warehouse
Increases your total planetary artifact production capacity by 2000 points.

Research Data Archive
Increases your total research production capacity by 1000 points.
20 Sep 2010Artifact stacks can now be partially scrapped and/or sent to legion/friends, similar to minerals.
The Artifact list is now sorted alphabetically.

Containment cages are now granted as single-use, instead of coming as stacks of 3.
28 Sep 2010From very popular demand, the F.A.T.H.E.R. module will be made available again on the artifact market for an extended period of time.
11 Oct 2010Defending players are no longer linked in an enemy ship's log when their traps are triggered.

An issue where pending legion invites could not be declined has been fixed.

Raiding enemy ships now awards unclaimed mineral units and artifact points instead of minerals and artifacts in cargo, so it functions much more
like hacking than before. Critical success effect for raiding will award approximately 2x the usual points from a standard raid. Critical failure rate for raiding has been reduced.

The critical effect chance from hacking is significantly reduced when hacking players under rank 20.

The 'spy probe - cargo' artifact has been discontinued, and will no longer appear in future artifact shipments, although players may still use/scrap any they have collected.
A new probe artifact, 'spy probe - resources', is now available through shipments, and reports the current player's collection of unspent research, artifact, and mineral points.
17 Oct 2010The Energy status tooltip now also reports time until energy is full at the current charge rate.

You can no longer perform offensive actions on friends' ships.
18 Oct 2010The Radiant Weapon Locker has been discontinued. The 'Radiant Surge Cannon' is now available on the artifact market, which is a weapon separate from the tech tree. Similar to the original weapon locker, it will scale its attack power and size based on your rank when first installed.
20 Oct 2010You can no longer perform any actions (including offensive actions and repairing) on friends when targeting them from the 'View Friends' area, other than comm messaging. However, If you manage to come across your friends naturally in the Galaxy, such as from an alert/planet guard, you will be able to perform actions as you would normally to any enemy.

Similarly to the above, you will not be allowed to perform offensive actions on legion requests from the 'View Invites' area.

This should strike a happy balance for those who still wish to PvP with their friends, but not open up additional ways to exploit some of the benefits of 'friendly attacks'.
24 Oct 2010Non-player elite/boss enemies alerted to your legion will now be viewable in their Battle tab. A button/count will indicate how many alerts are active.
7 Nov 2010Trade Tab Changes:

Before using the 'Sell All' mineral option, you can now highlight and select mineral types that you want to exclude. You will notice a lock icon next to ones that are selected in this way.

The artifacts interface has been streamlined. You can now sort by name or artifact type. There is also a name filter (similar to planets) that you
can use to find artifacts easier.

The Galaxy Wheel now awards many more credits per spin and scales better with Rank.

The Legion Comm update is still undergoing testing, and will be available in the next release.
9 Nov 2010An additional 'Use Other Artifacts' button has been added to all Planet and Enemy action tabs. This allows players to use beneficial artifacts more conveniently, without having to switch to the ship or trade areas.
11 Nov 2010The Legion Comm has been replaced by a new chat-like comm near the bottom left of the game area. Note: you may need to refresh your game to see the new comm if the game was open prior to the update.

The Legion Comm functions like a standard chat window. You can toggle the window through the 'Show/Hide' button at the bottom left. If the chat is hidden, you will see a flashing notification in the upper part of the game when new messages arrive.

/o MESSAGE (or /officer MESSAGE) : sends a message to all officers and leaders in the Legion.

The Legion player 'status' area now shows whether players are currently online or offline.

Due to some server upgrades, Galaxy Legion should now load faster for players with slower connections or on mobile devices.
15 Nov 2010Note: Please 'refresh' your Galaxy Legion window to view the latest changes.

The Legion Comm area is now resizable. Click and drag on the resizing bars to raise or lower the height of the Legion Comm.
Additional height has been added to the game area to allow for the comm to be used without overlapping other areas by default.

Scrolling bars in Galaxy Legion have been enchanced to include full mouse-wheel support for all major browsers, and are now larger and easier to see and use.

The 'Stack all Artifacts' button has been moved to the top of the Artifacts Tab in the Trade window.

Special Artifacts gained from missions and non-player enemies that build/install modules or structures can be scrapped for 'Complex Tech Parts'. This new special material can be used in upcoming missions. Tooltips for the artifacts will indicate whether the artifact will award credits OR Complex Tech Parts.
21 Nov 2010The 'Subspace Seeker' artifact has been reduced in Artifact Point cost by over half, and will now grant 175 scanning (up from 150)
The 'Continuum Beacon' artifact has been added. It costs 5000 Artifact Points and will grant a 15% bonus to scanning.

The 'Alien Star Charts' artifact is being phased out. New tiers of scanning technology are being added very soon.
21 Nov 2010Daily Rewards have been given a boost:

* The 'Credit' reward has been increased by roughly 20x, and its chance has also been reduced in comparison to other rewards.
* In addition to energy cube chances, another artifact has been added called to the mix called 'Tri-Matrix Emblem'. This will recharge your hull and shields in addition to energy (you may remember a similar artifact was available on the daily rewards during July).

Good luck!
26 Nov 2010Players can no longer share planet locations until they reach rank 20, but they can still receive shares as normal.

The Planet list will now indicate the planet you are currently guarding at the top for convenience.
5 Dec 2010When viewing planets, players, and enemies, active effects will now appear in their own tab called 'Effects'.
5 Dec 2010Aphotic planets now grant 200 passive cloak, instead of 200 defense.
18 Dec 2010When players leave a legion, they will not be able to send a player/planet alert for 12 hours.

Legion Leaders can now set a legion announcement that will be visible to all legion members. To set an announcement, use the command /a MESSAGE or /announce MESSAGE within the legion comm. Currently, there is a 256 character limit on the announcement. The announcement will be visible in both the 'News' and 'Legion' areas.
24 Dec 2010All structures that provide attack or defense have been upgraded, and now require 2 spaces or less. Special structures that provide attack and/or defense have also been given upgrades. Since sizes have been reduced, please visit your planets to take advantage of any extra space you may now have.

The 'Planet Flux' artifact now requires 50 energy to use.

Once a player has finished researching nearly all of the available research tiers, a 'Research Contract' option will appear. This allows the player to convert their research points for credits if they wish.

The 'Hyper Terraformer' and the 'Dyson Transformer' artifacts now provide a 10k bonus to all planetary passive abilities. For those players who have already completed the required missions and used the artifacts, you may submit a direct support request to apply those abilities to eligible planets of your choice that you currently occupy.

The 'Eruption Channeler' and 'Gas Igniter Rod' can now be used up to 1000 passive attack max, up from 350.
3 Jan 2011Planets occupied by players who have not logged in for over a month will no longer have any cloaking ability protecting them during planetary scans, and will be open for active players to find more easily.

When failing a scan for planets, a new error message will indicate if the scan failed due to the planet's cloaking ability.

Planetary storage structures (Mineral Storage Tower, Artifact Warehouse, and Research Data Archive) now take up only 2 space on a planet (down from 5). 5 can now be installed per planet (up from 1), and they now provide double the capacity as they did before.
16 Jan 2011When sending any legion alert, players now have the option of typing in a custom message that will appear alongside the alert. With this change, the existing planetary pre-defined choices have been removed.

A new profession, "saboteur", has been added. This profession unlocks the sabotage ability, allowing a player to destroy certain planetary buildings when the population is 100 or lower. It is available as an option when choosing Zolazin as a race.

The Genetarr 'Mind Influence' ability now has a cooldown of 30 minutes, down from 2 hours.

Note: All special abilities share a global cooldown. If players switch to a new profession right after using an ability from a previous race, the new ability may still be on cooldown. Also, remember that both Zolazin and Genetarr are only available to choose after unlocking them from various missions.

The 'Omicron Net' is being phased out, and will no longer appear in artifact shipments. In a future update, there will be changes to the other truce artifacts. At that time, the Omicron Net will no longer be able to be used, but can be scrapped. Players will be allowed to use any remaining 'Cupid Missiles' from last year's Valentine's Day drops.
30 Jan 2011The artifact popup/selection windows now have sortable columns. Please experiment with the sorting to find the one you prefer most.

Non-player enemy ability alerts will no longer archive in the ship's log.

Upon leaving a legion, a player will not be able to alert for 24 hours (up from 12), matching the time for an offensive action to be alerted.

Invasion probability has been increased slightly to account for the prior powerful defense upgrades.

Leaderboards now show the top 50, rather than the top 8. Your legion/player will now be highlighted if it appears in the rankings, in order to make spotting your place easier.

Legions can now request explicit treaties (Non-Aggression Pacts) with other legions. When a Non-Aggression Pact is active, all legion members will be warned before engaging in offensive actions with members of the other legion. The Pact will be broken if a member from one side ignores the warning and proceeds with the action. Both sides will be notified when a treaty is broken, who broke it, and for what reason. Legions can maintain up to 10 treaties at one time, and this amount can be increased through other means in a future update.

Legions can request a Non-Aggression Pact under a new 'Diplomacy' tab when viewing another legion's information details. Treaties can be managed under a new area called 'Diplomacy' in the Legion tab.
14 Feb 2011Players will now be rewarded Combat Badges when engaging in player-vs-player activity against *eligible opponents. Red Badges will be rewarded for disabling enemy ships, Blue Badges for hacking, Yellow Badges for Raiding, and Green Badges for invading planets.

* Eligible opponents for badges are ones no lower than 40% of your rank, and ones you have not already disabled/hacked/raided in the last 12 hours, respectively. To gain the most badges, you are encouraged to engage different opponents and collect them over time.

A small selection of rewards is currently available in the 'Battle Market', with many more on the way. The Battle Market can be found within the Battle tab.
18 Feb 2011Comm Changes:

* You can now reply directly to comm messages on your comm wall using the blue reply button.
* The comm delete button is now shown with a 'trash' icon.
* Players can now block other players from sending them further comm messages by clicking on the red 'Block Sender' button next to the comm message.
21 Feb 2011Legion officers and leaders can now send messages directly to another Legion's officer comm. This is available in the 'Diplomacy' tab when viewing Legion details. The receiving legion will see the message in their legion officer comm, where it will indicate the player and legion sending the message.

If necessary, an Officer/Leader can block incoming messages from a player (to their legion comm) by typing:
/block PLAYERNAME
where PLAYERNAME is the name of the player to block.

ore details on the legion comm can be found on the wiki:
http: //galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php/ ... egion_Comm

Some adjustments have been made to the Battle Tab to prefer enemy players closer to your rank. This will be more noticeable to lower rank players.
14 Mar 2011The planet scan window now displays an approximate success rating instead of a numerical value.

Critical Successful Hacks will now inform the hacked player about the planet that was discovered. (Note that Critically Failed Hacks remain the same)

Shield Amplifier now lasts 4 hours, down from a day. It was originally 24hrs before the shield charge changes went into effect, and thus its length has been reduced.

The positron clouder now applies a 50% cloaking debuff, rather than near 100%.
15 Mar 2011Critical hacks will no longer indicate the exact planet name when messaging the hacked player.

When sending a comm message to another legion, a copy of the message will be posted in your own legion comm.

The Prejoran Power Diffuser now counts as a special module, and up to 4 can be created in addition to standard dampeners.
2 Apr 2011Player abilities that are unlocked will now have their own timer.

Thus, players can now use their racial/profession abilities without affecting other abilities they unlocked. As a bonus, this April update resets the cooldowns on all 'Tactical Re-modulation' abilities.
4 Apr 2011Damage cap ceilings have been adjusted.

Prior to this change, the maximum damage dealt to a ship in a single shot was (0.5 x # of ship decks)
Now, that ceiling is (0.5 x # of ship decks), OR (0.5 x (player rank + 19)), whichever is greater.

Most ships will not notice this change, as they typically apply at least 1 deck per rank.
9 Apr 2011A new planet type, 'Irradiated', has been added. This is an upgrade to the Toxic type, available via the new mission 'Potent Residuum'. This mission is the 3rd in the planet upgrade chain starting with 'The Pawlacite Thaw', followed by 'Crystal Inferno'.

Toxic Purifiers can now be used on either Toxic or Irradiated planets.
10 Apr 2011Legion Member 'Status' tooltips will now display the time since the member was last online, as well as how long they have been a member of the legion.
29 Apr 2011The Octafari / Mylarai mission chain has been completely archived for ranks 7+. This is a long chain that includes the following missions:

Octafari Distress
Following the Trail
The Mylarai Embargo
Octafari Migration
Dubious Intent
The Grid Crisis
Grid Resistance
Embattled Retreat
The Mylarai Accord

As usual, the missions must now be done in that order - so you will likely need to complete some of the earlier parts if you started later. Good luck!

Small sidenote: As a result of the mission chain, the description of the 'Mylarai Extractor' enemy has changed slightly.
8 May 2011The first phase of Legion Bases are here!

You will find a new 'Legion Base' button in the 'Legion' tab to get started. (A Leader must be available to first start construction on the base)
Further details for bases can be found on the wiki:
http: //galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php/Bases

A new research branch, 'Advanced Logistics', has been added. These research options relate to unlocking and using Legion Base modules. Note that instead of having unique weapon/defense branches for bases, existing research will already unlock those related modules (similar to planets), but will require certain base levels to install.

Base combat is not yet active. Legions will be given at least a couple weeks to become familiar with bases.

'Stellar Cartography' has had its XP reward lowered from 175 to 150.

The mission text for 'XTS-9 Refinement' has been adjusted to make it more clear when xts-9 is awarded.
23 May 2011Base Production Loyalty bonus has been doubled (40% per loyal member, up from 20%)
Base Production Level bonus has increased to 500% per level. (up from 300%)

Legions can now choose to have production shipments deliver automatically, or let members claim them on their own. This choice is available via the base 'Rules' tab. With the second option, Members must claim the delivery before the next one arrives, or else it will be lost.

The DM79 Datacenter has has its stats boosted to account for its cost.

Spending research in the Collective Theory Lab will now count towards your spent research total in the leaderboard.
30 May 2011As Facebook now requires all apps to exclusively use Facebook Credits, Galaxy Legion now accepts Facebook Credits for Galaxy Points.

As part of the Facebook Credit migration, we have also switched our "promotional offers" to ones provided directly through Facebook. We hope this provides a much more reliable, streamlined offer completion experience.

This also allows users to purchase Facebook Credits/Galaxy Points with cash, as many stores offer Facebook Credit Gift cards:
http: //www.facebook.com/FacebookCredits ... 7384515365

Note: Please continue to use the 'Contact the Developer...' (in-game contact) option for issues relating to Galaxy Points.

Some legion comm optimizations have been made, including fixes for some sync issues that caused missing and 'double' posts to appear.

All in-game Facebook dialogs and messages (share, friends, etc) have been upgraded to a new version provided by Facebook. You may notice a different look and feel from the older dialogs. If you are still using an older browser, it is highly recommended that you upgrade.
7 Jun 2011The 'Recently Scanned' planet filter should now work properly. It will also show recently shared planets from your legion, which should make it easier to spot legion shared planets without having to use the ship log.

A filter for 'Unoccupied Planets' has been added to the Planet list.

The planet text filter is now called 'Filter Planets by Info' instead of 'Filter Planets by Name' to better describe its purpose.
15 Jun 2011A confirmation window ('Are you sure...') will now appear when trying to sell Base Modules.

Base Production Points can now be re-allocated by a Leader/Officer for 25GP. This option is available in the Base 'Actions' tab.
6 Jul 2011A couple minor changes:

* There is now an 'Are you sure' confirmation when demolishing structures on planets.
* Time Manipulators cannot be used if you have performed more than 50 offensive actions in the last 24 hours.
19 Jul 2011When a new legion announcement is set, it will now also appear in the legion comm as RED (instead of grey), and will trigger a red alert popup message for all users that are online at the time, making it easier to spot an important message that needs to be acted upon.2 New Treaty Types have been added:

Trade Pact: When active, the legion will be allowed to trade goods (via the send option) with all members of the other legion. The treaty can be broken at any time by either legion on request.

Battle Pact: When active, the legion will be allowed to invite the other legion to join in their battles with enemy legion bases. The treaty can be broken at any time by either legion on request.

Treaties are requested and managed similar to the Non-Aggression Pact in the 'Diplomacy' tabs of Legions.

In preparation for base combat, 'Base Abilities' have been added. Abilities are available in the Base 'actions' tab under 'Use Base Abilities'. Ability points regenerate each day, at the same time as base resource shipments are delivered. Higher level bases receive more ability points per day, and can store more points overall. Each ability has a specific set of requirements that must be met before it is unlocked and can be used. For instance, some abilities require a certain amount of the legion membership be a specific Race or Profession. In addition, many abilities become more powerful if larger numbers of these requirements are met. More abilities will be added in subsequent releases.

Some New items have been added to the Battle Market for Silver Badges, as well as new items for other badge types. More items are still coming. (Note: Silver Badge items cannot be purchased until base combat is turned on later this month)

Legions should review the new updates and options and prepare their bases for combat near the end of July. (Note that red badges will used in discovering base locations, so plan on saving some)

Ships will now appear properly on enemy logs when using artifacts or abilities against enemy planets. An issue where certain ships could not be targeted after triggering traps has been fixed.
29 Jul 2011Base Combat
Legions can now initiate combat with other bases!

A member of the legion can perform scans to find enemy bases via the 'Battle Tab' -> 'Enemy Bases' area. Each scan costs 5 Red Badges. The scan will always return an eligible base to battle at random. The member scanning must choose at that moment whether to target lock the base that was scanned, or continue scanning for different bases.

A base is eligible to be targeted if all of the below are true:
* It has reached level 2
* It it has not already been targeted / disabled recently
* The legion controlling the base does not have an active Non-Aggression Pact or Battle treaty with the legion performing the scan
* It is not the same base the legion performing the scan has targeted in their last lock attempt.

Once a target lock is established, it cannot be canceled. The legion will either disable the base before the lock expires, or the base will successfully defend attacks against it until the lock expires.

Inviting other Legions to Join a Base Battle
Once a target lock is established, the legion may invite other legions to join the same battle. The list of available legions that have active 'battle' treaties will appear below the target lock. A legion can invite as many other legions as they wish, but note that the number of rewards given when disabling the base does not change.

We're looking forward to feedback on the 'difficulty' of the base encounters, and will be making adjustments to various abilities and stats accordingly.

Other Updates
Players must now be loyal to their legion (7+ days) to share the locations of enemy planets. Other types of planets can be shared with no restrictions.

A confirmation will now be presented when scrapping artifacts of any quantity.
30 Jul 2011Base target locks now expire in 8 hours (down from 24) - also allowing legions to establish many more locks than before.

The following base abilities now expire in 20 hours (down from 24):
Miners Coalition
Trade Route
Cyborg DataChannel
3 Aug 2011Planets transformed using either the 'Hyper Terraformer' or the 'Dyson Transformer' now have the passive 'Invulnerable' ability, making them completely immune to any enemy interaction. These planets can no longer be abandoned, as well.
4 Aug 2011Certain planets created with passive abilities have received some boosts:

Aphotic planets now receive 1200 passive cloak (up from 200), to better fit the description and lore of the mission chain.

Ecumenopolis planets now receive 700 passive cloak (up from 150) for similar reasons.

Sentient planets now receive 700 passive attack and defense (up from 200 each)
5 Aug 2011The Kronyn mission chain has been completely archived for ranks 5+. This includes the following missions:

Anomalous Appearance
Aberrant Signals
Future's Admonition
The Aevax Experiment
The Kronyn Exodus
Returning the Message
Altered Directions (New)

As usual, the missions must now be done in that order - so you will likely need to complete some of the earlier parts if you started later. Good luck!
8 Aug 2011Daily Reward balance updates:

* Research reward now provides 4 hours of research production. Vygoid will receive their additional 20% bonus when receiving this reward.
* The credit reward has been removed, and has been replaced with 4 hours of mineral production. Miners will receive their additional 10% bonus when receiving this reward.
21 Aug 2011New high-rank Research tiers have been added to the 'Base Logistics' tree. As part of this, a new type of high-rank base module can be researched: the Universal Service Terminal. Different services (beneficial effects) become available on certain days of the week, during special holidays, and alongside events. Each service has a specific cost in Complex Tech Parts, and typically lasts 4 hours.

Beneficial Effects granted from the service terminal cannot be removed from other artifacts.

The 'Emergency Repairs' ability now repairs 3% per Loyal Fixer (down from 10%).
2 Sep 2011A new 'Settings' page has been added within the 'Ship' tab. This will help consolidate some of the current and upcoming player-suggested preferences.

Within the settings area, you can choose whether to allow other players to repair your ship, and select your preferred avatar picture.

If you have other ideas for things you would like to see in 'Settings' to further customize your experience, feel free to post them in the Suggestions area!
5 Sep 2011After a base is disabled, legions can now return to the base to review combat damage and stats until the lock has expired.

Base Raids
Bases that are level 4 and higher can now be raided for extra bonuses after they are disabled. Raiding bases works differently than raiding ships, however:

* Each ship that has dealt damage to the base can attempt 1 raid on the base.
* The chance of a successful raid is based on the amount of damage dealt to the base.
* Raiders (and those with other % bonuses to raiding) will have their success chance increased proportionally.

Successful raiders will receive a 'Base Crate', a new type of artifact that contains random rewards. Higher level bases will reward much better crates, some carrying unique rewards.

Unlike ship raids, bases do not lose anything for being raided - it is merely a reward given to ships for its defeat.

Crates can be re-itemized at later intervals to keep things fresh. Good luck!
7 Sep 2011In addition to their other bonuses, bases will now receive an extra passive hull and shield bonus when leveling up. This bonus increases proportionally each level.
Existing bases have been granted these bonuses already for the levels they have already achieved.
19 Sep 2011Trying to attack a ship in the Battle Tab that is under the effects of a Calming Amplifier, Halcyon Aura, or has a Non-Aggression Pact with your legion, will remove them from your list to allow other ships to appear for battle.

Artifact Changes:

Several changes have been made to the Calming Amplifier and Halcyon Trap to bring them more in line with their original intended purpose and design. We've tried to incorporate many of the ideas made by players in the last several months on how to change these without removing them completely.

Calming Amplifier can now only be used if you have not performed any offensive actions in the last 24 hours. It can no longer be removed by other artifacts, and now lasts 4 hours (down from 12). Also, performing any offensive actions (such as hacking) will remove the Calming Amplifier effect from your ship.

The Halcyon Trap has changed. It now applies its effect to the defending ship, rather than the attacker. It can also only be used if you have not performed any offensive actions in the last 24 hours. Its effect now lasts 2 hours (up from 1). Both the Halcyon Trap and the triggered Halcyon Aura effect will be removed if you perform any offensive actions.

Similar to all other types of offensive actions, you can no longer use enemy artifacts while disabled.

In addition to preventing standard attacks, 'truce' effects now prevent artifacts from being used against the ship, as well as the ship from using offensive artifacts against other enemy players.

Any remaining 'Omicron Net' artifacts can no longer be used. Please scrap any that you have remaining in your cargo.
20 Sep 2011Invasion chances are now boosted significantly when invading planets occupied by players who have been inactive from the game for 6+ months.

Green badges are no longer rewarded if you invade a planet from the same owner within a 7-day period.
3 Oct 2011A new type of combat badge has been added: Dark Badges. These are rewarded for disabling certain non-player enemies. In the coming days, additional Battle Market items will be added that can be purchased using these new badges.
19 Oct 2011The Ship's Log has been enhanced with new filters! You can now apply an appropriate filter to the Ship's Log to make it easier to spot specific types of messages and alerts.
22 Oct 2011When receiving an artifact shipment, you can now click on the 'All' checkbox to claim many artifacts at once. This option is available when you have 2000+ artifact points, and will generally leave about 500-1000 artifact points remaining when finished.
21 Nov 2011Updates/Fixes:

Scrolling areas have been enhanced to better support smartphones and other touch devices (iPhone, iPad, Android). Additional devices are still being tested for even greater compatibility.

Ships will no longer be required to pay upkeep after 3 days of being inactive. In addition, when ships do not have enough credits to pay for an upkeep, modules will still take damage as before, but the remaining credits will no longer be deducted.

Planets with the 'invincible' passive ability can now be targeted and viewed, but they still cannot be attacked or invaded. Artifacts such as the 'Star Chart Purger' can now be used on them.

Planets that have developing colonies will now properly update their production automatically without needing to be manually checked.

Some popular non-player enemies that dropped off after certain ranks (Silthion Queen, Lazuli Fabrication Plant) have had their max rank extended, as well as some cloaking added to their stats. Several other existing uncommon and rare non-player enemies have also received some cloaking in their stats.

The following effects are now immune to removal with Containment Missiles: Neural Interface, RSL Memory Implant, Shockpulse Charger

Planetary Events:

Planets will now experience occasional events that affect their stats or production. Events occur under the following conditions:

* Randomly - some planets will experience events randomly. Most of these effects are temporary, some are permanent.
* Invasion - a successful invasion may trigger a beneficial or negative event. These effects are temporary.
* Colonization - colonizing a planet may trigger beneficial events. These effects are temporary.
* Analysis - A new planet action called 'Analyze' is available for some planets. An indicator icon in the planet list will show which planets (if any) have something to analyze. Performing a successful analysis unlocks a beneficial effect that is permanent. Players will be notified automatically during random events when planets have something available to analyze.

The planet info screen has been resized a bit taller to accommodate additional planetary graphics being added.
22 Nov 2011The Xecti mission chain has been completely archived for ranks 20+. This includes the following missions:

A Station Adrift
Xecti Recrudescence
The Xecti Incursion
Desperate Confinement
Influence of the Broodmind
Broodmind Hunt
Cold Evasion
The Xecti Agreement (new)

As usual, the missions must now be done in that order - so you will likely need to complete some of the earlier parts if you started later. For those who complete the missions, expect some special 'continuation' missions coming next month. Good luck!
11 Jan 2012Planets can now be 'flagged' to make it easier to track certain ones as planet lists become larger. You can flag a planet via the planet 'Actions' tab. Flagged planets will appear with a special icon in the planet list, and a new filter has been added to show them exclusively.

When sending artifacts or materials to another ship, the sender will also now receive a log notification.
12 Jan 2012You can now choose from a set of colors when setting a planet flag.
17 Jan 2012The following artifacts will now ask for confirmation before they are used:

The Glaviz Device
Sphere of the New Era
Mutagenic Cartridges
Tri-Matrix Emblem
Tevrazon Gas Tank
Crimson Force-Locks
24 Jan 2012The planet 'Exotica' has been updated with some changes:

* Exotica has been given a new ability called 'Exotica's Influence' which is available to the player who controls the planet. When used, it provides a temporary production bonus to the controller's legion base. This planet ability is found in the planet 'Actions' tab.
* Exotica's total attack and defense automatically reduces by 5% for each day since it was conquered by its current controller.
9 Feb 2012A new type of Planetary Event has been released: Enemy Blockades.

When this occurs, a non-player enemy (NPC) will arrive and surround the planet, producing a negative effect, such as production loss.
The negative effect(s) will remain until the NPC is disabled or it expires. The NPC can be targeted either through the 'Battle' list, or via the planet itself.

A few additional notes on this new feature for clarification:

* Although they may produce a variety of effects, these NPCs do not attack or invade planets.
* NPCs can only be targeted by the current planet controller and anyone the NPC was alerted to (if it is a boss or elite NPC).
* If the planet is abandoned or invaded while it is blockaded, the NPC will be removed from the planet, but it can still be targeted and disabled from the 'Battle' list.
* Alerting an NPC that is blockading a planet will only alert the NPC itself - the planet will NOT be alerted in the process.
* An NPC can find and blockade any planet, including ones that are invincible and/or heavily cloaked.

We look forward to introducing more NPC-planet interactions in the future.
9 Mar 2012A few minor enhancements added based on player feedback:

* Legions will now have their leaderboard ranking listed even if they are not in the top 50. The ranking will appear in the leaderboard under the #50 spot in that case.

* The base upgrade contributors list now shows departed (no longer with the legion) members as greyed out. Some players were confused that non-members that had contributed in the past would still receive shipments, so this will help clarify.

* Legion search should now return more results for search terms that could match many legion names.

* In the case where multiple legion leaders exist, the leader that has been with the legion the longest cannot be demoted by another leader. They may still demote themselves, however. Note that we still encourage all players to exercise caution when promoting.
11 Mar 2012Daily missions will start to make their appearance. Daily missions are similar to standard missions, except they can only be completed up to once per day (20 hour cooldown, like the daily reward). Incomplete daily missions will remain saved until you complete them, at which time you will have to wait until the next day to continue again.

Daily missions will be a new way for us to add a greater variety of rewards from missions due to their limited nature.

Currently we have released one such mission, available at rank 50. Expect to see more of these soon!
31 Mar 2012The 'Trellith' mission chain has been completely archived for ranks 40+. This includes the following missions:

Unfamiliar Remnants
Fragments of the Unseen
The Trellith Emergence
Beyond the Corporeal
Organic Convergence
The Trellith Symbiosis
The Permanent Bond (New)

As usual, the missions must now be done in that order - so you will likely need to complete some of the earlier parts if you started later. Good luck!
12 Apr 2012New Feature: Medals

Medals (aka Achievements) are awarded to players after completing certain tasks. Some medals carry unique rewards, including unlockable ship designs and titles.

You can view your medals and progress by clicking on 'View Medals' in your ship area.
11 May 2012Several new Battle Market items have been added. These new items will require that you reach a certain number of Medal Points before they are unlocked and can be purchased. Your total Medal Points can be seen by viewing your medals list.
26 May 2012A 'Galactic Server Time' clock has been added. Click on the new Clock icon underneath the Galaxy Legion logo to show or hide the clock, which
is set to the server's own time. (US Central Time)

Legion leaders who have gone inactive can now be demoted by other leaders, regardless if they were with the legion the longest.
16 Jun 2012Some adjustments have been made to the interface to fix 'blurriness' when playing and zooming on the iPad and iPhone/iPod browser. Other mobile devices may notice lower memory usage as well.

You can now use certain artifacts (Star Chart Purger, Flux Probe, and the Flux Probe - Tracer) on planets directly within the planet list screen via a new 'Quick Use' bar. The bar can be opened by clicking on the <<< icon at the far right of each planet item's details in the list.

To avoid confusion, medals that are time based (such as Deep Meditation) will no longer round up to the nearest day when showing remaining completion.
28 Jun 2012In order to better manage large numbers of alert messages when they arrive, the 'Close All' button has been repositioned to the top.

New Feature: Galactic Trading Center
The Galactic Trading Center is a new area that will allow players to auction extra artifacts and special materials to other ships. It is available to everyone rank 50 and higher. The GTC can be launched from the Trade tab.
18 Jul 2012Completed/Expired auctions will now deliver their goods much more quickly than before.
24 Jul 2012The 'Bioship' mission chain has been completely archived for ranks 80+. This includes the following missions:

Surgical Precision
Imminent Conflict
The Voliir Arrival
Uncertain Opportunity

Delivering the Treatment
The Biofleet Evacuation

18 Aug 2012Artifact selection windows now include a filter bar, making it easier to search through larger sets of artifacts similar to the Trade area.
29 Aug 2012The Time Manipulator's action limit has been doubled to 100 (up from 50).

'Contested' Planets (currently applying only to the planet named 'Exotica'), now have several changes:

* Exotica can no longer be abandoned.
* You may only invade Exotica if you are a loyal member of a legion.
* Halcyon Trap, Halcyon Aura, and Calming Amplifier effects are automatically removed from guards when targeted from Exotica.
* You may not guard Exotica if you were disabled by a player in the last hour.
* You may not invade 'Exotica' if you have already completed the 'King of the Hill 2.0' medal.
* The appropriate guards will automatically be removed from Planets (including Exotica) when players leave a legion.
* The contested stacking debuff on Exotica has increased from -5% per day, to -20% per day.

Due to these changes resulting in a significantly different difficulty from the original 'King of the Hill' medal, a new medal has been added called 'King of the Hill 2.0', which can be earned from here forward. The reward for 'King of the Hill 2.0' is an upgraded version of the 'Exotic Bio-Disruptor'.

Requirements for the 'King of the Hill 2.0' differ from the earlier Medal. The 'Guard the planet...' requirement has changed to 'Flag the planet...' to fit with the new difficulty conditions. In addition, the medal now only requires that the planet be held for 8 hours, down from 24.

Players who finish 'King of the Hill 2.0' will also receive the older 'King of the Hill' medal for free (and its medal points) if they do not already have it.
25 Sep 2012A few updates today based on player suggestions!

Repeated identical messages in your ships log (such as battle notifications from artifacts), as well as alert messages, are now consolidated for readability and cleanliness.

Buffs and Debuffs in the ship 'Effects' tab are also consolidated, and will display a total count of effects next to each distinct type.

The 'Exotica's Influence' ability has changed. The bonus now grants 1% + 1% for each 4 hours (down from 24 hours) that the planet has been controlled.
15 Oct 2012The Hallows Bane seasonal event has begun, and will last until the end of October 31st.
2 Nov 2012The 'Litheor' mission chain has been completely archived for ranks 100+. This includes the following missions:

Tremors From Below
The Litheor Egress
The Message Within
Uncomfortable Diplomacy
Silent Extraction
Reaching the Core
The Isolation Factor (new)
?

As usual, the missions must now be done in that order - so you will likely need to complete some of the earlier parts if you started later.
Unlike previous chains, this one has a 2-part ending. The final mission in the chain (as well as its associated medal) will be released soon. Good luck!

Other UI enhancements:

22 Feb 2013New Feature - Legion Missions
A new base module, 'Mission Control Center', is now available for bases level 4 and higher. This module unlocks the new 'Legion Missions' feature for the legion. Legions should wait until they have at least 15 active members before installing the module, to ensure they get full use of it. (Minor note: The Mission Control Center is researched as part of Xeno-Diplomacy)

More details about Legion Missions can be found via the wiki:
http: //galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php/Legion_Missions

Recruitment posts include some unique options:

* Open recruitment: For a quicker way to gain legion members, a legion may opt to allow members to join without being approved.
* Base details: Choose to automatically show details about your legion's base in the posting, without having to type the details by hand.

For more information on this transition, see the Facebook help page/FAQ here:
https: //www.facebook.com/help/441940579160200/

When earning rewards via offers, you will now earn Galaxy Points directly, rather than in Facebook Credits as before.

2 Feb 2014The Q-Pedd seasonal event has begun, and will last until the end of February 15th.
8 Feb 2014The Legion Mission 'Disturbance at Ryelis' has been added to the mission pool. This is the first of a batch of new Legion Missions that will be released on a bi-weekly basis to the available list starting today. We hope to double the list of available missions by Summer. Note that due to chains, the number of actual 'missions' will be much higher.

These missions will feature some or more of these new elements:

* Chains - some missions will automatically start a new, continuation mission if the previous one succeeds. Chains will be 2-3 missions long.

* Optional/Side Objectives - some missions have tasks that do not contribute towards the success or failure of the mission. They should generally only be chosen once the mission has already achieved a satisfactory chance of success. Contributors to these tasks will still be eligible for mission success rewards as if they had participated in a normal task. The mission will indicate if it has optional objectives.

* Chosen Paths - some missions will allow a path to be chosen if the mission succeeds. This works similar to chains, except the next mission is selected beforehand during the mission briefing.

We understand that due to the randomness of missions, some of the new missions are not likely to appear for legions at a reasonable rate. Thus, we are also working on a mechanism to allow missions to be skipped. Stay tuned for more information.
5 Apr 2014The Lepus Cluster seasonal event has begun, and will last until the end of April 20th.
15 Apr 2014Legions can now skip a Legion Mission for Galaxy Points. This option is now available in the Legion Mission actions tab.

10 Nov 2014The Era of Harvest Seasonal Event has begun, and will last until the end of November 29th.

Note: The Training and Tutorial features will be in the following release later this month!
29 Nov 2014* An issue that caused the Legion Chat to be unusable in the latest version of Chrome has been fixed.

New Feature - Legion Training

New players can now join legions as "trainees", and Legions will be given incentives to train and help these new players advance in the game. See Training (http: //galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php/Training) for more details.

New Tutorial - Releasing Sunday
The starting tutorial has been revamped to help get players in training legions as soon as possible, and includes more detail on modules, planet structures, and battles. The tutorial now includes highlighted regions to help identify areas to click or focus, and will better adapt to players performing certain steps out of sequence. The tutorial also tracks progress more closely and will provide more insight after certain events occur for starting players.

A new level 1 Tutorial NPC has been added to make it easier for newer players learning their first battles during the tutorial.

In order to provide a lead-time for legions to establish training slots ahead of the tutorial changes, this new starting tutorial (which incorporates joining legions that have slots) will be released later this weekend (Sunday evening). New players can still join legions as trainees via the Legion tab in the interim, however, but there may not be slots available right away.

27 Aug 2016In-Game Friends:

With this update, we are finally replacing the deprecated Facebook-synched friends feature with in-game friends. Friend interactions remain the same (trading, etc), but are requested from within the game rather than relying on Facebook. Due to this change, you will need to request friends from within the game again, even if you were friends before this feature. Friends are easy to find with this update, with both 'Suggested Friends' and 'Search Player' sections.

Player Blocking:

We continually get a variety of complaints and feedback regarding player "bullying", and have decided to leave it up to the players to make decisions on who they would like to continue to play with... or not. We understand that although this is a game that involves player-vs-player battles, some interactions can be taken very personally, which can affect the enjoyment of the game as whole.

Players will now be able to block other ships from interacting with theirs, and vice versa. In order to prevent abuse, blocks have the following restrictions (subject to change):

* Blocks last for exactly one month (cannot be canceled during this time), though they can be renewed.
* The requesting player must not have initiated any offensive actions against the player they wish to block in the last 24 hours, AND
* The requesting player must have at least 10 offensive actions from the player they wish to block in the last 24 hours, OR 30 actions in a 7-day period.
* Players are limited to a maximum of 5 players blocked at any given time. To block another, one will have to expire first.

We hope that this change will help some players make better choices about how they interact with others, and foster an environment of greater respect despite the PVP nature of the game.

Note that comm blocking remains the same as before (ie - you can block a comm without blocking the entire player).

Players can manage friends and blocks in the updated 'Friends and Blocks' area of the Legion Tab. This replaces the older 'Blocked Players' area in ship settings.

Facebook Invites:

The game will now track other players you invite from outside of the game via Facebook, making it easier to find them, friend them, etc. You'll see a list of your invited friends and their status in the new Friends tab of the 'Friends and Blocks' area. We have also started to offer incentives for these invites - see some of the new medals for reference.

Note that friends you have invited prior to this release will unfortunately not be tracked or credited in this way. Only friends invited via the 'Invite more Friends to Play' area are tracked.

16 Jun 2022Hello readers!

I do not plan to make forum updates a regular occurrence, but I figured that you and your legion-mates might want to hear about what I've got to say in this one!

Forum Account Request Approvals

As I mentioned in my post here, we are going to being approving new forum membership requests once more.

However this comes with a few caveats:

There is currently a backlog of 13,000 accounts, most of which are spam bots.
The process of approving an account requires manual inspection of it, and;
It can sometimes be quite hard to distinguish between a spam bot and a real user. There is often only a few pieces of information we're able to look at to make the determination.

Thus, we have rejected all pending requests and deleted the accounts associated with them. This means that if you had a request you were waiting on being approved, your account no longer exists and you should make a new one.

To anyone creating a new account, please use you in-game ship name for your account name. This will allow us to search for your player account and easily come to the conclusion that you are not here to inform us about cheap wares online!

Email Delivery Problems

We've determined that the board has also not been sending automatic emails to users for some time. This means that users will not be able to receive notifications about posts or private messages, nor will they be able to reset their password. We are currently investigating why this is and are hoping to have it solved soon, but in the mean time please direct any forum-related enquiries to:

If you have an account: Send me a private message.
If you do not have an account: Send an email to galaxylegiontickets@gmail.com with "Forum" somewhere in the message subject, and the message will be forwarded on to me. Please use the email address linked to your forum account if you can.

Thank you for reading, and once again please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any inquiries!
22 Jun 2022Hello!

19 Nov 2023Hi players!

We are pleased to officially announce that the second game in the Galaxy Legion series, Galaxy Legion: Apotheosis will go live for a public beta later today.

While this is an open beta, spaces are limited, so we recommend registering as soon as we go live so that you don't miss out!

We would also like to extend a special thanks to all of the players who participated in the early development alpha stages of the game, without whom this would not have been possible.

You can read more about the game by clicking the image below:

To have your questions answered, please submit them (as many as you like!) to the following form: https: //forms.gle/HGSLRkVw4e9xABJR9

Please note that questions regarding release dates, feature requests, patches, etc, are not suitable for this format, so please refrain from submitting such questions.

Following the discussion, we'll be opening the mic in The Lounge where you'll have a chance to chat with Dan and other members of the community!

Any questions? Chat to us about the event here: galactic-insights
